「偶然」を表す基本語
coincidence は「意味がありそうに見えるけれど、実はたまたま起きた一致」を表します。日本語の「偶然」「偶然の一致」に近い語です。

「偶然に」は by coincidence と言います。似た表現に by chance がありますが、by coincidence は特に「2つのことが重なった」という感じが強いです。
